When to Call 911

911 should be utilized any time a citizen has an emergency situation that urgently requires police, fire or medical response. 911 should be called for any crime that is in progress

When to Call Non-Emergency Dispatch

Dial 720-898-6900 or 303-980-7300 for any situation requiring the action/response of an Arvada police officer; when:

• The crime is not in progress, and no suspect is present
• The filing of a crime report; or
• Information or questions related to criminal activity or assistance.

Call If You Can, Text if You Must

The City of Arvada, along with Jefferson County and the City and County of Broomfield, offer Text to 911 service. Most cell phone carriers, including Verizon, AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile, have made this service available. If you are in a service area where texting is not available, you will be sent a bounce-back text alerting you. At that point, you will need to call 911.

If you must text 911, remember:

• Dispatchers will not know your exact location. It is important to include your location and the nature of your emergency as part of the first message
• Avoid slang and abbreviations for the sake of clarity
• Texts are limited to 160 characters
• Photos and videos cannot be sent to dispatchers through text

Jeffcomm 911

Arvada Police are dispatched as part of the Jefferson County Communications Authority (Jeffcom 911) system. Jeffcom 911 is a centralized communications center for multiple member agencies. The decision to transition to a consolidated communications center was based on best practices within the emergency services industry to provide the most efficient level of service to residents and emergency services personnel of Jefferson County.
