Mission

The mission of the Public Works Department is to provide engineering, Geo Data and infrastructure services to the City and Community of Arvada so they can experience a safe, vibrant and prosperous community.

About

The City of Arvada Public Works Department mission is to provide the highest quality of services to the public. The mission is accomplished through the use of resources, technology, innovation, teamwork, and coordination with other service providers in the City.

Public Works is responsible for planning, maintaining, and improving the infrastructure of the City. This department maintains:

  • More than 1,440 lane miles of paved streets
  • Virtually 1,000 miles of curb, gutter, sidewalks and medians
  • About 2,300 storm and irrigation ditches
  • Nearly 600,000 square feet of facilities.

The administration of Public Works oversees the day-to-day direction of the department but also sets the long-term business and budgetary goals and direction of the department through policies and directives established by the City Manager and City Council.

Engineering Services Division

Establishes and implements standards for street construction, utility work, and storm water drainage on all projects in the city. Permits and inspects all work within City streets and rights -of-way. Find additional resources:

Facilities Management Division

Provides a comfortable and safe environment in a cost effective and sustainable manner for the employees and visitors at all City facilities. 

Mobility & Planning Innovation Division

Studies, plans, and makes recommendations on speed limits, work area traffic control, safety, pedestrian and bike innovations, and neighborhood traffic mitigation. 

Streets Division

Maintains and repairs streets within City limits, including snow removal, sweeping and mowing, and concrete maintenance.

Traffic Division

Ensures safe and efficient traffic operations for all modes of transportation throughout the city following the City's Engineering Standards. This includes installing and operating traffic signals, street markings, signs and other traffic control devices.
