What is the City doing about (EAB)?: The City has been preparing for the eventual infestation of EAB well ahead of its official arrival. During the last several years, forestry staff has completed an inventory of the size, location, and health of all 1,200 ash trees on the City of Arvada public property (697 have been treated for control of Emerald Ash Borer). The City has created an EAB Management Plan (PDF) to address ash trees on public lands.

1. What is emerald ash borer?: Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an invasive insect that has killed more than 50 million Ash trees in 30 states since its initial discovery in Michigan in 2002. This insect is considered to be one of the most destructive, invasive species the United States has faced.

2. What does the emerald ash borer look like?: The insect is metallic and green. It is a one-half inch long and one-eighth inch wide.
